Knitting pattern tech editing
Here is a summary of what I will check when I tech edit your pattern
Language: Proofread pattern and check for typos, errors, and inconsistencies. Check that instructions make sense, and are easy to follow.
Maths: Check all the maths throughout the pattern. Check that metric and imperial conversions are correct.
Gauge: Check stitch and row gauges (stockinette stitch + any other stitch patterns used).
Yarn, needles & notions: Check that all materials and tools required for the project have been included. Check information about yardage.
Sizing: Check that pattern has been graded according to standard body measurements, and that fit is consistent across the size range.
Abbreviations: Check that all relevant abbreviations are listed, and have been used correctly and consistently throughout the pattern.
Charts and schematics: Check that charts and schematics are correct and easy to read.
Layout and style: Check that pattern conforms to your style guide. (If you don’t have a style guide, I can create one for you.)

The tech editing process
Send me an email to book a tech editing slot for your pattern.
Please send your pattern to me at least 5 working days before your pattern is due to be edited, so there’s time to confirm the fee for your pattern before I start working on it.
On the day of your booking, I will tech edit your pattern and send it back to you with my comments and suggestions.
I will work with you until you are happy with your pattern, so feel free to send it back to me for another check after the first edit. You can do this on the day of your booking, or at a later date – whatever works best for you.
If you like, I will do a final, quick proofread for free after the pattern has been test knitted.
